FIEEF Endowment Welcomes its New Executive Director

After a thorough search, the respective Boards of the Futures in Education Endowment Fund and Futures in Education Foundation have hired Anthony F. DiLauro, MSW, to serve as Executive Director of both organizations, starting July 6, 2009.

Mr. DiLauro comes to Futures after serving for nine years at Boys Town, New York in a number of capacities, most recently, as its Executive Director for five years. During his tenure at Boys Town, Mr. DiLauro led the organization, which provides the highest quality care for 470 of New York’s neediest children and families. Mr. DiLauro explained that during his tenure, Boys Town has helped more than 4,500 teens and youth, many from broken homes or with criminal backgrounds, to change their lives completely. He noted with pride that of the youths who participate in the Treatment Family Services Program, more than 90% are not arrested again, and almost 45% go on to attend four-year colleges. As Executive Director, he also started the In-Home Service Program to work with families in their own homes to give parents the skills to work with their children to help keep families together. He also noted proudly that many of the teens who have gone through the Boys Town program still contact him to this day.

Mr. DiLauro has a Bachelors of Art degree in psychology from Southern Connecticut State University and a Masters in Social Work from the University of Connecticut. Mr. DiLauro is married, and has two young daughters, Nicole and Ashley. He, his wife Carrie, and the girls live in Norwalk, Connecticut.

The Boards of the Futures Endowment Fund and the Futures Foundation welcome Mr. DiLauro and wish him every success as he continues the work of these organizations to assure that the gift of education is possible for every student in Brooklyn and Queens.
